How to Access Medical Records
STEP 1 – REGISTER FOR A MYHEALTHEVET ACCOUNT
If you already have a MyHealtheVet account, you can go to Step 2.
Register for a MyHealtheVet account HERE by clicking the green “Register” button in the upper, right-hand corner.
You will be taken to a page where you will need to provide your identification information.
Please be advised that the information below must exactly match your VA/DoD records for your account to be connected:
• Full Name
• Social Security Number
• Date of birth (DOB)
STEP 2 – SIGN IN TO YOUR MYHEALTHEVET ACCOUNT
Sign in to your MyHealtheVet account with by clicking the green “Sign in” button in the upper, right-hand corner.
STEP 3 – UPGRADE YOUR MYHEALTHEVET ACCOUNT
You will need to upgrade your MyHealtheVet account to a Premium Account.
If you already have a Premium Account, you can go directly to Step 4.
Upgrading your account is free. You can upgrade your account by:
• Accept the MyHealtheVet Terms and Conditions.
• Select the Upgrade button on the home page next to your name.
• Check the Certification Box that you’re the account owner and select Continue.
STEP 4 – ACCESS YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS
Click on “Blue Button Medical Reports.” It is the first option under “Health Records.”
Under “Select Date Range,” choose “Custom.”
• For the Start Date, pick your date of birth to ensure it pulls your full military history.
• For the End Date, put today’s date.
Under “Select Types of Information,” choose “All Types of Information.”
Then, hit the Submit button under the list of record types.
You should now see the Download Results page. This page gives you a table
You should hit Download PDF for the documents you requested.
